12 Inch replacement compactor and what is different?
The K012 is a direct size comparison to the old Broan and GE 12-inch products, but the Krushr is designed for compacting recycling waste to the extent that it can still be sorted at the recycling centre.
The Trash compactors of yester-year were designed to ‘weld’ everything into a brick that went into landfill.
The compaction mechanism also works differently as it uses a patented scissor mechanism to crush the top third of the bin, the more waste the more it compacts.
The electronics monitor the pressure on the near silent, linear actuator to ensure that crushing is optimised but whilst protecting the motor. For this reason, if it hits anything that is ‘solid’ it will stop the crush and retract, so it will not crush glass bottles as this would contaminate the recycling.
We also recognise that recycling tends to have a lot of plastic which has its own memory. By holding the Krushr blue button down until it double beeps, the mechanism will launch into the bin, find the optimal spot, and cut the power for 15-20 mins, thus removing a significant amount of memory from the plastic and again this is optimised only if the bin is at least 75% full.

The Krushr appliance, is designed to be fully integrated in a modern kitchen with matching furniture doors and a continuous toe-kick, but if an existing appliance is being replaced and you do not have furniture doors available then you should also buy the stainless steel door.

For the same reason as above, you should also consider whether you want to have a wooden toe-kick matching your furniture to hide the legs of the units or you can opt for a stainless steel toe-kick to match the door,

It is also important to use Krushr bags in the bins of the correct size and these bags should be fitted fully into the bin with the edges folded over the spring modules supporting the bin. You should only perform the first crush function when the bin is at a minimum of 75% full as this helps settle the bag. Krushr bags, whilst extremely tough, are also 100% recyclable until other compactor bags.
